Pin-up Links

Before you voyage forth and expand your appreciation of classic pin-up art, why not add 'The Hunger Site' to your bookmarks? With just a daily click of your mouse you can donate, for free, food for the hungry around the world.

Another affiliate site I can recommend is 'Retro Raunch'. They specialize in vintage photo cheesecake from 1860 to 1960. While there are some materials not suitable for children, you won't find and silicone and the attitude of the site is clearly playful. They offer a 'picture of the day', a caption contest and a postcard feature (Don't forget, you can send an e-card from ANY of the scans in Mutoworld's gallery!). Check out RetroRaunch:

General:

Cheesecake - The Art of the Pinup - Very nice site - My highest recommendation!. A great historical overview and now without any pop-up adult advertisements. Check this one out!

The Great American Pin-Up - Associated with the great art book written by Louis K. Meisel and Charles G. Martignette. Cheesy music, a paucity of information and images. Do yourself a favor and buy the book!

The Pin-Up Files - A great pin-up site and leader of the Pin-Up Webring. There are more artists than appear in the gallery listing, so use the search function on the home page. I'm also a moderator for the Yahoo Group.

ScanDolls Artist Info - I have linked to the Artist Info page because its so hard to find (The links are very subtle on this site). If you start there, which has some good information from the Pin-Up newsgroup on the internet, and work your way back, there are some nice scans by a few artists.

The Pin-up Page - Some biographical information and nice scans for some of the important artists of the genre. A bit busy with all that Java and frames, but whatever...

Artist Specific:

Gil Elvgren - Excellent reference on Gil, including a comprehensive, historical biography!

Don 'Rusty' Rust has a page dedicated to his work. Stop by, look around and say hello from me!

San Francisco Art Exchange - They sell some Vargas originals and Memorabilia. Some nice early works and brief biographical notes.

Contemporary:

Jerry Tibstra, AKA Glenn Artsbit, runs a gallery site of his contemporary pin-up works called artsbit.com. Like Rusty, he will do commissioned works.

Paul Corfield is an artist and member of the Pin-Up Webring. Check him out.

Some nice contemporary prints can be bought at spiderwebart, especially Greg Hildebrandt and Dave Stevens.

Scans:

ImageNETion - They say they have over 8,700 high resolution scans available and who am I to question! Chock full of images, including pin-up, sci-fi and fantasy. They also have a few more goodies to explore.

Pin-Up Art Gallery - Not much info, but a load of (Somewhat slow-loading) scans by many artists!

Pin-Up's Sexy World - Nice collection of pin-up art, including a selection of magazine cover art primarily by Driben.

Links:

A Valuable Calendar Directory and Information Resource: CalendarFind.com. Check out their swimsuit links!

I had my pin-up information published by the The Everything To Do With Sex Magazine. Also in Southeastern Antiquing Magazine!

Since I'm a member of the Pin-Up Webring, why not see what else is out there?

One superior, well maintained site is ArtPromote.com.

Kenny and Ruth's Pinup Artist Links - Some good links to contemporary artists. Most of the vintage links lead to The Great American Pin-Up anyhow.

Bob Beckerer of the White Rock Collectors Association was kind enough to allow me access to some of the 'Psyche' information.

I'll keep adding/reviewing new links. I also have some banners if anyone wants to link here! If you have any suggestions or would like me to add your site, .
